Public BBQ

A remote campground on the white sand of Bottle Bay in Francois Peron National Park, where the red dirt of the peninsula runs straight into the beach. Access is four-wheel drive only: about an hour on very soft sand, and cars do get stuck, so drop tyre pressures to around 18 psi before you start. A park day pass is required. It stays quiet as a result, and many sites have their own path down to the beach, close enough to camp within sight of the water without seeing another soul. You can drive on the beach, and there is good fishing and snorkelling over a small reef at the northern end. Drop toilet blocks are spread through the loops. There is a barbecue, but it sits at the end of Loop C and is a long walk from the others. Bring all your water and supplies. Flies and evening moths come with it.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Shark Bay council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

You should first check with Shark Bay council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
